Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to advance inventory accounting and financial analysis within the Controller's Department. You will perform complex accounting and analytical tasks related to materials and supplies, ensuring GAAP and FERC compliance, and supporting monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
• Three+ years of diverse or complex related experience beyond degree.
• Knowledge of accounting and finance principles to complete complex assignments.
• Experience with financial systems and advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex materials and supplies accounting and analysis to support financial reporting.
• Ensure inventory accounting complies with GAAP, FERC, and internal controls with monthly close.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Analyze inventory data and trends to identify risks and process improvements.
• Support accounting for excess, obsolete, or impaired materials.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Tax, Auditors, and regulators.
• Respond to audits and data requests with clear supporting documentation.
• Use IBM Maximo, PeopleSoft, Excel, and data analytics tools to extract and reconcile data.
• Drive process improvements and automation to reduce manual work.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Share knowledge and mentor less experienced teammates.
