Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle seeks a senior network engineer to design, operate, and implement large-scale networks connecting Amazon to the global Internet. You will develop architectures, document high/low level designs, and drive automation to improve deployment velocity.

Expect 24/7 on-call readiness, collaboration with internal teams, and travel to data centers as needed. The role requires deep IP networking expertise, mastery of BGP/OSPF/MPLS, and strong Unix/Linux scripting

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of IP networking fundamentals and troubleshooting.
8+ years with major routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, ISIS).
8+ years working with Cisco IOS and/or Junos.
3+ years Unix/Linux experience and scripting (Python, Perl, shell).
Master’s/MBA or equivalent experience is optional.
Senior/Lead Engineer experience optional.
Expert-level certifications (CCIE/JNCIE) optional.
Expert-level scripting and automation in network environments.

Responsibilities

Design network architectures, services, and deployment procedures to meet complex requirements.
Identify and prioritize projects aligned with team objectives and strategy.
Develop HLD and LLD documents and influence roadmaps.
Automate deployment processes to improve quality and velocity.
Collaborate with internal customers to move designs from concept to production.
Perform high-quality network and systems operations including deployments and optimization.
Maintain technical documentation and support customer interactions.
