Job summary

Baker Hughes in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior Legal Counsel for International Trade to provide guidance on US export controls, sanctions, and customs matters; lead investigations and disclosures to the government.

You will help manage the compliance program, monitor evolving international trade laws, and develop training content for global teams. JD, bar admission, and 5+ years in compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Have a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school or international equivalen
• Have minimum of 5 additional years of experience in Compliance & Regulatory Counsels
• Have admission to practice law and be in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent in other jurisdictions).
• Demonstrate solid experience with US & EU licensing and registration regimes, including dual use, military, and nuclear.
• Have experience in international trade law, including export compliance and sanctions.
• Show Strong negotiation and presentation skills and an excellent analytical ability
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory concerns to non-legal stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on US Custom and Export Controls Rules and Regulations, Sanction regulations
• Lead trade compliance investigations and manage submissions and disclosures to the U.S. government
• Work with a team dedicated to managing the compliance program and continual enhancement
• Manage ITC Compliance policies and procedures within the Trade Program
• Monitor and communicate new international trade laws and regulations impacting the business
• Oversee ITC Compliance training content and annual rollout
