Job summary

Bunzl Distribution in St. Louis, MO seeks a Sr. Internal Controls Analyst to support the Internal Controls Manager in building and maintaining a robust controls environment for Bunzl North America.

This on-site role collaborates with risk assessment, control creation, implementation, and continuous monitoring across the business. The role requires proactive engagement with process owners, IT risk assessment, and cross-functional communication to ensure controls are effective and compliant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
• CPA or CIA designation preferred or in progress.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related area.
• Strong client focus and ability to build strong relationships with the business.
• Strong business acumen and desire to learn; problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Analytical with attention to detail.
• Ability to simplify the complex.
• Strong negotiation skills; strong written and verbal communications and presentations skills; demonstrated ability to implement change effectively.
• Experience in implementing risk-based processes and controls.
• Global and international experiences a plus.
• Knowledge of accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite Office.
• Experience of a range of ERPs an advantage.
• Desire to be part of a growing team and work within a team setting.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and establishment of an effective internal controls strategy.
• Assist in managing process and control owner relations.
• Establish relationships with stakeholders to improve internal control environment.
• Assist leaders to develop, monitor, and maintain controls.
• Monitor and report on control weaknesses; track remediation actions.
• Act as internal controls coach and business partner to embed controls.
• Plan and perform periodic internal controls monitoring assessments.
• Coordinate and execute periodic Risk & Controls Self-Assessments.
• Ensure benchmarking to keep controls fit for purpose.
• Review effectiveness of control design and recommend improvements.
• Assess IT risks; ensure IT operations align with standards.
• Keep updated on developments affecting internal controls and audit procedures.
• Provide updates to management and implement changes in controls.
• Proactively follow up on ineffective controls and remediation plans.
• Demonstrate strong business writing and present information effectively.
