Job summary

Larsremodel is seeking a Senior Interior Designer in San Diego, CA to lead design efforts from concept to completion. You will assess client needs, develop concepts, perform field measurements, space planning, and source products and materials.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Interior Designer (Sr. ID) is responsible for defining the scope of work through assessing the client's needs, requirements, and design/décor style. This position will provide design expertise and recommendations to clients including concept development, field measurements, space planning, generating visual plan layouts and sourcing products, materials, and accessories. The Sr. ID will attend client meetings and create client presentations while working toward multiple deadlines. Additionally, this position will assist the Director of Interior Design (DID) in providing oversight for the interior design staff, ensuring that interior designers are trained and mentored and that the needs and progress of the interior design staff are reported.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management (60%)

  • Attend all internal and client meetings including, but not limited to, discovery, debrief, pre-design, and recap meetings, cabinet sign-off meetings, project team meetings, project end of design (EOD) meetings, and miscellaneous job site meetings.
  • Provide clear, written communication to the project team after key meetings and as needed to keep the team updated on related items.
  • Collaborate with clients on design factors to achieve the client\'s goals with the highest level of quality and finish.
  • Analyze clients needs and specifications to ensure the project is finished within the timeline and budget.
  • Correspond with clients in a proactive manner to keep them up to date.
  • Obtain bids for allowance items and communicate with the estimating department to upload costs into Builder Trend (BT).
  • Coordinate with the estimating department to ensure all costs and orders are sourced and approved appropriately.
  • Coordinate with the project managers and trade partners to ensure a smooth build process.
  • Read, interpret, review, and make corrections to finished interior design plans as needed per the scope of work and have a clear understanding of change orders.
  • Use design software to create models and visuals.
  • Create tile drawings and order various materials.
  • Organize and maintain project information in project folders on the server.
  • Submit weekly project updates to the DID.

Team Management (20%)

  • Provide training and mentoring to the Junior Interior Designers (Jr. ID) and interior design staff.
  • Ensure selections are input into the selection management software with accurate descriptions and costs adhering to company best practices and procedures.
  • Ensure that selection meetings are scheduled and held in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all selections are approved in selections management software prior to EOD meetings.

Administration (20%)

  • Perform data entry into selections management software and BT, including setting up project templates, adding plumbing and appliance specs, and adding all selections.
  • Attend trade shows to stay up to date on design trends, materials, lighting, and related products.
  • Research products and materials as needed to support the design team on technical issues influencing concept development.
  • Ensure the selections library is current, relevant, and cutting edge.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Design and Architecture; Required

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years of management experience within the industry; Required

  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Have a good understanding of basic design principles;
  • Must have a high level of current product knowledge in the marketplace, including but not limited to flooring, tile, countertops, paint, plumbing, appliances, and electrical;
  • Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality;
  • Ability to balance multiple projects;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Be fluent in the English language;
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills and ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Have the ability to visualize concepts and explain them to others;

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance;
  • Build relationships with clients and be able to work with different personality types;
  • Have an understanding of product costs and how they affect project budgets; and
