Strong understanding of multifamily interior design process from programming through construction administration and FF&E. Strong presentation skills, including oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of interior design and architectural design documentation standards and best practices. Willingness to learn new software as required. Understanding of FF&E bidding processes.
• Leads in project design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
• Leads preparation of designs and documentation with minimal oversight from Director of Interior Design.
• Takes a mentorship role with intermediate and junior staff.
• Guides intermediate and junior staff and participates in the following with minimal oversight from Director of Interior Design:
• Oversees and prepares presentation & documentation redlines for junior staff.
• Project management tasks, including compiling data and organizing files.
• Assists Director of Interior Design with project and staff scheduling.
• Manages interior design project plans, schedules, staffing, and deliverables, with guidance and general oversight from Director of Interior Design.
• Works with Director of Interior Design to plan and maintain project performance metrics.
• Assists, and has opportunities to take the lead, in the preparation of interior design proposals.
• Manages small to large scale interior design project scope independently, with minimal oversight from Director of Interior Design.
• Assists with marketing and business development efforts as requested.
• Direct communication with consultants and clients.
• Travel as required for meetings and FF&E installs.
Required Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in relevant design firm environment.
• 4+ years of experience in multifamily interior design.
• Proven experience designing and documenting new construction and renovation projects.
• NCIDQ certificate preferred, but not required.
Required Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or equivalent education and experience.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of 3D BIM software (ArchiCAD or Revit), SketchUp, Enscape, the Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.
• Building codes and guidelines as applicable (ADA, FGI, etc.).
• Programming.
• Contract documents.
• Field observations and measurements.
• Life safety requirements.
• Furniture and interior product specifications.
• Furniture bid packages.
• Construction contract administration.
• FF&E Cost estimates and calculations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
• Overnight travel as required for project execution.
• Possible on-site office for projects as needed.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Car rental as required during travel.
• Willingness to travel to project site via air and ground transportation (3-4 consecutive days per month).
