We are hiring an Interior Designer for our Sports + Recreation + Entertainment group in our Kansas City office. This role involves interpreting, organizing, and executing conceptual design projects, utilizing creativity, foresight, and judgment to meet project goals from inception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Conduct programming efforts including space planning, layout, furnishings, lighting, and color coordination. Develop practical, aesthetic, and safe design concepts aligned with client goals and budgets. Manage all project phases, including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, design, documentation, and specifications. Maintain positive client relationships and keep them informed of progress. Oversee furniture, lighting, flooring, wall coverings, and artwork selection. Estimate materials and costs. Solicit bids and coordinate fabrication, installation, and furnishings. Ensure projects stay on schedule and communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and other disciplines. Lead construction administration activities and manage project finances using Deltek Vision, ensuring compliance with HOK standards and sustainable design practices.
- Teamwork: Develop conceptual designs and prepare 2D/3D presentation drawings. Update project documents during various phases. Coordinate color and material palettes. Review documents for code adherence and oversee quality assurance. Communicate with all project stakeholders. Support design presentations and assist in maintaining project schedules. Foster positive relationships with consultants and contractors.
- Client Interface: Represent clients in bid processes and contract negotiations.
- Staff Development: Mentor junior staff and participate in recruitment.
- Business Development: Identify new opportunities, participate in marketing, and assist in fee proposal development.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or equivalent.
- Experience in interior projects, preferably in Sports + Recreation + Entertainment.
- Licensed Interior Designer (NCIDQ) or registered Architect required. NCARB registration preferred if architect.
- LEED credential required within 12 months.
