Job summary

NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS seeks an INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICIST/OCEANOGRAPHER/MATHEMATICIAN to support the Ocean Projects Department (N9). The role emphasizes acoustic data analysis, field operations, and data interpretation for command objectives.

The candidate will communicate findings clearly, work with MATLAB and ARC-GIS, and collaborate with nationally known scientists to advance oceanographic and geophysical studies.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating alternatives, developing and implementing solutions, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on results.
• Experience interacting with nationally known scientists to gather data and information in support of command objectives.
• Experience executing acoustic data processing and analyzing acoustic data management in standard deep water and non-standard shallow water acoustic environments.
• Experience creating detailed graphics in ARC-GIS OR ACR-GIS Pro and manipulating complex codes in MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise as interdisciplinary physicist/oceanographer/mathematician during field operations.
• Communicate results effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Work with acoustic data analysis and oceanographic data in diverse environments.
• Utilize Microsoft Office for data presentation and reporting.
