Job summary

AES Corporation seeks a Transmission and Distribution Interconnection Planning Manager to oversee the planning, assessment, and coordination of interconnection projects within the utility's transmission and distribution networks in Ohio and Indiana.

Position based in Indianapolis, IN or Dayton, OH with travel between locations and a focus on coordinating with TOs, large load customers, and generators. Requires 7+ years in interconnections or related planning and a Bachelor’s in engineering.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in interconnections, transmission, or distribution planning.
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience with interconnection processes for MISO, PJM, PUCO and/or IRUC.
• Ability to negotiate agreements (GIAs, ISAs, Wires to Wires, construction) with external entities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of IEEE/NEC/NESC and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team in Ohio and Indiana to ensure effective interconnection planning.
• Oversee interconnection studies adherence to FAC-001 and FAC-002 standards.
• Serve as technical lead for external conversations with TOs, large load customers, and generators.
• Analyze complex data and make decisions on project scoping and feasibility.
• Manage contracts and adherence to GIAs, ISAs, Wires to Wires, and construction agreements.
• Coordinate internal and contractor resources for studies, billing, and construction management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain visibility on interconnection queues and required changes.
• Oversee scoping and planning to support Impact and Facility Study reports.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC) and regulatory requirements (FERC, NERC, PJM, MISO, IRUC, PUCO).
• Ensure timely project completion and address emergencies or critical issues.
