Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Insurance Verifier to obtain and record eligibility and benefit information for patients, and to initiate admission notifications and authorizations in a timely manner. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in healthcare insurance verification, familiarity with CPT/ICD basics, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and EPIC.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Three years of insurance verification experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job.
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential functions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word) and knowledge of electronic health record software (EPIC preferred).
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive work environment and support team goals.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, and co-workers to resolve eligibility and authorization issues.
• Initiate authorization for services; monitor and track authorizations and CPT codes.
• Review clinical documentation for Medical Necessity and payer requirements.
• Ensure accounts are financially secure with accurate patient liabilities and documentation.
