Job summary

Markel is seeking a Senior Product Development Specialist to lead form development for new and revised insurance products for the US Insurance Division. Responsibilities include drafting forms, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting product filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in commercial property and casualty insurance, with product development experience preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance products including manuals and coverage forms.
• Ability to conceptualize and design insurance forms and endorsements.
• Interpret state laws and regulations as applicable to the insurance policy life cycle.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational ability.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Proficient in standard business software including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Develop forms for new/revised coverages that convey underwriting intent and support claims resolution.
• Identify and confirm regulatory compliance.
• Research competitors’ forms and perform coverage comparisons.
• Analyze impact of bureau form changes on existing coverage forms.
• Lead form project meetings by product, program, or line of business.
• Prepare proprietary forms and filing notices to support timely product filings.
• Assist Regulatory Compliance Specialists with responses to DOSI questions.
• Create underwriting rules describing use of forms and endorsements; lead training sessions.
• Mentor colleagues and share knowledge within Product & Regulatory Services.
