Job summary

Markel is seeking a Senior Product Development Specialist to lead form development for new and revised insurance products in the US Insurance Division. You will draft documents, research coverage forms, and ensure regulatory compliance throughout filings.

You’ll analyze bureau form changes, coordinate with Regulatory Compliance, and lead form-related projects while mentoring teammates and sharing expertise across Product & Regulatory Services at Markel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in commercial property and casualty insurance, preferably in product development.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance products including manuals and coverage forms.
• Ability to conceptualize and design insurance forms and endorsements.
• Ability to interpret state laws and regulations as applicable to the policy life cycle.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational ability.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Technically competent in Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Develop forms for new and revised coverages and products for leadership that convey underwriting intent and market competitiveness.
• Identify and confirm regulatory compliance.
• Research competitors’ forms and perform coverage comparisons as requested by product line leader.
• Analyze bureau form changes and determine impact on existing forms.
• Facilitate and conduct form project meetings by product, program, or line of business.
• Prepare proprietary forms and filing notices for accurate submissions.
• Assist in timely responses to State Departments of Insurance questions during filings.
• Provide concise information to support accurate form implementations across policy systems.
• Prepare communications regarding form management to leadership.
• Lead special projects and underwriting support, including training seminars as needed.
• Mentor, coach and share knowledge with associates.
• Participate in educational opportunities to enhance skills.
