Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks an Assistant Controller to join its finance leadership team in a mission-driven healthcare setting. This hands-on role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, strong internal controls, and significant interaction with leadership on financial reporting and compliance.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in accounting/finance, CPA preferred, and 5+ years in progressive accounting roles, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit environments.

Qualifications

• Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Experience with financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.
• Background in healthcare, nonprofit, or FQHC environments is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and audit prep.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit standards, and federal regulations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, grant accounting, and compliance.
• Supervise accounting team including AP/AR staff.
• Partner with leadership to improve processes and reporting capabilities.
• Contribute to initiatives focused on efficiency and growth.
