Job summary

Nationwide is hiring a Senior Trial Attorney for its National Trial Division to defend insured clients in complex insurance litigation across Upstate New York. This fully remote role offers collaboration with a technology-enabled legal team and extensive opportunities for case leadership.

You will lead diverse matters, mentor junior teammates, and stay abreast of evolving law and litigation tech. NY license and 8+ years of civil litigation are required for this expert role.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active New York law license in good standing.
• 8+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Strong trial advocacy, negotiation, legal analysis, and case management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a diverse caseload as lead counsel in insurance defense.
• Represent clients in personal and commercial lines cases.
• Manage litigation from inception through trial, including strategy and negotiation.
• Collaborate with claims partners, legal colleagues, and support staff.
• Provide mentorship to junior attorneys and support staff.
• Stay current on legal developments and technologies impacting litigation.
