Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services in New Jersey seeks an Accountant III to support the Specialty Risk US entities. You will perform routine close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP and regulatory financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.

The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience (insurance a plus), a Bachelor’s in Accounting (CPA preferred), and strong Excel and ERP skills (Oracle/Hyperion).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of professional experience, with 2-year focus on insurance accounting.
• Strong knowledge and application of US GAAP, and internal controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with Oracle ERP and Hyperion, FCCS a plus.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Independent and team-oriented with strong communication skills.
• Technical accounting knowledge to report on US GAAP and regulatory basis.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine financial close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial package preparation.
• Perform quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and investigate unusual items.
• Maintain accurate and detailed quarterly accrual schedules.
• Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of intercompany activity across entities.
• Provide support to the corporate team as necessary.
• Assist with ad hoc responsibilities including system implementations and enhancements, internal controls, and analyses.
• Assist in preparation of GAAP and Regulatory financial statements.
