Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. in Jersey City, NJ, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting for Specialty Risk legal entities, ensuring GAAP compliance and accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

You will lead monthly close activities, intercompany reconciliations, and GAAP financial statements preparation, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting system improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of experience.
• Strong knowledge and application of US GAAP, and internal controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application especially Excel.
• Experience with ERP (Oracle) and Hyperion (HFM) or FCCS a plus.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, identify problems and propose viable solutions.
• Team-oriented with cross-department interaction.
• Strong initiative, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage routine financial close activities: journal entries, reconciliations, financial package prep.
• Prepare and complete annual GAAP financial statements filed with the state.
• Review quarterly balance sheet and cash reconciliations; investigate anomalies.
• Reconcile intercompany activity and resolve differences.
• Analyze data and KPIs to drive action aligned with goals.
• Support ad hoc projects: system implementations, controls, analyses.
• Lead and collaborate to improve workflow and efficiency.
• Provide leadership and accountability across teams.
