Job summary

NextDecade seeks an experienced Engineer, Instrument & Controls for the Rio Grande LNG site near Brownsville, TX. You will backfill leadership for Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical Engineering and guide control systems projects critical to day-to-day operations and long-term reliability.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Safety teams, and development of control system KPIs to maximize plant availability and safety.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
• 10+ years of control systems engineering experience.
• 5+ years of instrumentation and control systems engineering experience in LNG or equivalent facility.
• Willingness to travel domestically & internationally (10-15%).
• Ability to lead and collaborate with operations and engineering teams.
• Strong documentation and metadata discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead support for DCS, control systems, and associated hardware.
• Develop and monitor control system KPIs to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Support alarm management, software changes, and OT/PCD security.
• Coordinate input from operations, maintenance, and contractor teams.
• Lead risk assessments, PHAs, HAZOP, SIL, and SIF reviews as required.
• Maintain compliance with MOC and discipline specifications.
