Job summary

Stantec in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design and implementation of I&C and facility automation systems for high-tech facilities. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust, compliant solutions across industrial environments.

You will apply ISA standards, oversee PLC/DCS programming, HMI/SCADA development, and network integration while mentoring junior engineers and supporting proposal reviews.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of industrial automation and controls design.
• Experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA.
• Experience with UPW, IWT, BCDS, and process reactors.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 497, UL 508A, UL 698A, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 135 (BACnet).
• P.E. licensure preferred; AutoCAD proficiency required; Revit/BIM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead instrumentation and controls design for I&C and facility automation.
• Prepare wiring/diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs, loop wiring diagrams, and control sequences.
• Develop BAS/BMS architecture, networks, and integration strategies.
• Design industrial networks (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, BACnet, wireless).
• Perform quality reviews of sequences, diagrams, and commissioning docs.
• Interface with clients to support project delivery and coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standards.
