Job summary

Nautilus Biotechnology in San Carlos, CA is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II to design and deliver software that orchestrates instrument hardware, monitors data quality, and verifies the performance of optics and fluidics. You will partner with hardware engineers, bioinformatics, and biology teams to translate customer needs into robust software solutions.

You will own major capabilities within the Instrument Software stack, drive data-driven decisions from telemetry, and mentor teammates

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in a high-performing org.
• Expertise with Python and experience with C++.
• Experience building software that interfaces with hardware.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, builds, and artifact management.
• Strong data analysis skills and data-driven technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver capabilities within the Instrument Software stack, including orchestration of hardware components and telemetry warehousing.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and integration scientists to measure and validate instrument performance during bring-up and ongoing quality.
• Drive cross-functional decisions about the platform using multivariate sensor telemetry and quality control data.
• Develop tools to enable rapid diagnosis and resolution of instrument support issues with Operations and Technical Support.
• Bring curiosity to the science behind the data and work with bioinformaticians and product teams to understand customer goals.
• Lead with ownership, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor engineers through code reviews and dialogue.
• Join a tight-knit team addressing meaningful problems together.
