Job summary

Nautilus Bio in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join our growing team. This role is central to the instrument's reliability, designing and delivering software to orchestrate hardware, monitor QC data, and verify the performance of optics and fluidics.

You will partner with hardware, bioinformatics, and biology teams to translate customer needs into data quality standards, lead with ownership, and mentor engineers while shipping products customers love.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in a high-performing environment.
• Expertise with Python and experience with C++.
• Experience building software that interfaces with hardware.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated pipelines.
• Skills in data analysis to drive technical decisions.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Commitment to full software lifecycle and maintainability.
• Desire to learn and grow beyond core area.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver capabilities within the Instrument Software stack, including hardware orchestration and telemetry warehousing.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and scientists to measure and validate performance during bring-up and post-delivery.
• Drive cross-functional decisions using multivariate sensor telemetry and QC data.
• Develop tools for rapid diagnosis and resolution of instrument issues with Operations and Tech Support.
• Engage with bioinformaticians and product teams to align software with customer data goals.
• Lead by example with architecture input, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Join a tight-knit team solving meaningful problems together.
