Job summary

Audubon is seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer in our Metairie, LA office to lead instrument design for complex projects. You will prepare specifications, perform calculations, review vendor drawings, and coordinate with clients and vendors to meet performance, safety, and budget goals.

The role requires an ABET-accredited degree, extensive experience with instrument and electrical design, and the ability to manage multi-discipline teams and projects while ensuring HSSE compliance and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• ABET accredited institution preferred.
• Electrical engineering degree preferred.
• Field experience preferred.
• Industry experience preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience preferred.
• SPI, control valve sizing, meter sizing and relief valve sizing software experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of instrumented control and safety systems design.
• ISA/NEC/API codes knowledge preferred.
• Ability to lead and manage multi-discipline projects.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications detailing client performance requirements, component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
• Prepare engineering sketches, perform calculations and develop analysis models for complex project assignments.
• Review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
• Interact with clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants.
• Manage workload, budgets and project resources; ensure on-time delivery within budget.
• Adhere to quality standards and engineering checking procedures.
• Comply with HSSE standards and regulations.
• Visit job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
• Prepare inquiries and bid tabulations for equipment purchases.
• Develop, review and approve engineering design packages.
• Lead medium to large multi-discipline projects; delegate tasks and report progress.
• Provide guidance on work techniques and best practices to co-workers.
• Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge with PE sealing as required.
