Job summary

Synthesia is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to join our Customer Education team. You’ll own needs analysis and learning design, carry your own portfolio end-to-end, and produce design blueprints for Knowledge & Enablement Specialists to implement.

You’ll facilitate live sessions, present at North American conferences, and shape AI-accelerated workflows that power our production pipeline. If you love shaping learning at scale and speaking to audiences, this role is for you.

Qualifications

• Proven senior-level instructional design experience, including owning needs analysis and design end-to-end.
• Portfolio of real-world customer-facing or professional learning experiences you designed.
• Demonstrable experience facilitating live sessions and speaking to large audiences.
• Hands-on experience building agentic or multi-step AI workflows, with iteration details.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Product, CS, Support, and Marketing.
• Comfort getting hands-on in content development and publishing, not just specification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Based in or relocating to the New York or Austin area, and up for ~2 days a week in office.

Responsibilities

• Own Needs Analysis: discover learning needs from customers and data, separate real learning needs from content requests, define audiences and success measures.
• Own Learning Design: design courses, certifications, learning paths, and live sessions grounded in instructional design principles.
• Hand Off Cleanly — Then Get Your Hands Dirty: provide build-ready designs and stay as design authority during development.
• Build and Iterate on AI-Accelerated Workflows: design agentic AI workflows, version and improve them, define where AI belongs in the pipeline.
• Facilitate and Represent: lead live sessions and webinars, speak at North American conferences, deliver talks and workshops.
• Measure and Improve: use engagement and assessment data to judge learning effectiveness and improve content catalogue.
