Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Inspector to perform difficult and complex inspections on single-family residences, focusing on enforcing building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and development codes. This role supports the toilet replacement program and ensures high standards of compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Five years of field inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Associate degree plus 3 years of relevant experience meets requirements.
• Knowledge of City construction codes and state laws.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre and post construction inspections for City projects.
• Inspect plumbing, electrical, and development work for code compliance.
• Provide timely, accurate information to staff and citizens on compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with other departments and agencies to align inspections.
• Offer guidance to inspectors to ensure correct interpretation of codes.
• Attend outreach events and training on city programs and software.
• Identify opportunities for program improvements and communicate them to supervisors.
• Perform other trades work as needed.
