Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking an experienced inpatient coder with CCS certification to review inpatient records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes. You will analyze UHDDS data, review DRG groupings, and handle high-dollar cases including interventional and IP rehab coding, ensuring compliance and optimal reimbursement.

The role requires an Associate's degree or equivalent and 2–3 years in an acute hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent required.
• CCS certification required and maintained thereafter.
• Minimum 2–3 years in an acute care hospital coding role.

Responsibilities

• Apply anatomy and physiology knowledge to assign codes for complex accounts.
• Analyze medical records using UHDDS and assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes with encoder/CAC.
• Review DRG assignments and ensure accurate DRG grouping.
• Handle high-dollar and complex cases including medical, surgical, behavioral health, and IP rehabilitation.
• Apply IRF-PAI guidelines for IP rehabilitation coding.
• Adhere to department coding procedures, policies, and quality standards.
• Comply with AHIMA/AC CPC standards and official coding guidelines.
• Meet revenue cycle KPIs and productivity targets.
