Job summary

Hartford HealthCare seeks an Inpatient Coder 3 Certified for the HIM Coding team in Farmington, CT. You will review inpatient records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and support accurate DRG determinations for reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Requires CCS, 2–3 years acute care experience, and an Associate’s degree or equivalent. You will collaborate with CDS and billing teams, mentor new coders, and uphold coding standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of progressive on-the-job experience in an acute care hospital.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required and maintained thereafter.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding.
• Familiarity with UHDDS and DRG methodologies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assign codes for complex accounts.
• Analyze records using UHDDS and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes with CAC or encoder.
• Review DRG assignments and enter data into coding software.
• Collaborate with CDS and other departments for accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in training and mentoring new coders to acclimate to policy.
• Adhere to coding standards and ethical guidelines.
