Cloudera in Austin is seeking a Sr Infrastructure Solutions Engineer (Compute & Storage) to own the hardware layer, sizing, deployment, and lifecycle management across on-prem and hybrid platforms. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent experience in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Deep hands-on expertise in server hardware, including CPU architectures (Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC), memory configuration, PCIe topology, RAID/HBA, NVMe/SAS/SATA drives, NICs, and power/thermal considerations.

Responsibilities

• Consult with internal software engineering teams to gather workload requirements and translate them into specific server and storage configurations.
• Design, document, and maintain standard hardware configurations for common workload profiles like build/CI, virtualization, big data and analytics, databases, and GPU/AI/ML.
• Serve as primary technical contact with Dell and other OEMs; review quotes, BOMs, and assess new platforms through proof-of-concept and benchmarks.
• Own lifecycle of on-premise compute and storage hardware: capacity planning, procurement support, rack/power/cooling, deployment, firmware updates, warranty management, refresh, decommissioning.
• Design, implement, and administer enterprise storage platforms (Dell PowerStore, Pure Storage) with high availability and data protection.
• Integrate hardware into bare-metal provisioning and IaC workflows (Foreman/MaaS, Ansible, Terraform).
• Automate hardware management, health monitoring, and fleet inventory using out-of-band tools (iDRAC, Redfish, OpenManage, racadm).
• Implement security practices (BMC/iDRAC hardening, Secure Boot, TPM, firmware patching).
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis with OEM support; mentor junior staff.
• Participate in on-call rotation and maintain documentation for standards and inventory.
