Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen cloud foundations and reduce production risk in a multi-account, multi-region AWS environment. You will mentor engineers and drive durable platform improvements while collaborating with product teams.

Ideal candidates bring deep domain expertise in compute, networking, storage, or control planes, strong Go/Python/Java skills, and hands-on Terraform and Kubernetes. Remote-friendly in the US.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems in production.
• Deep expertise in compute/workload orchestration, networking, storage, or cloud infrastructure control planes.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or similar.
• Hands-on AWS experience and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Strong understanding of capacity management, failure domains, observability, rollout safety, and production recovery.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for major infrastructure systems and lead initiatives across teams.
• Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms with focus on one or more areas (compute, networking, storage, stateful systems, or control planes).
• Improve scalability, capacity management, isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of production infrastructure.
• Build standardized infrastructure-as-code workflows and reusable automation for self-service provisioning, testing, rollout, and rollback.
• Identify shared failure modes and build safeguards to prevent broad customer impact.
• Contribute to multi-account, multi-region AWS architectures, including GovCloud or regulated environments.
• Participate in incident response and use post-mortems to drive durable improvements.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in infrastructure design and operations.
• Communicate architecture, trade-offs, risks, and migration plans to stakeholders.
• Champion Samsara's cultural principles as we scale globally.
