Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to independently plan and develop complex designs for network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware and database solutions. The role emphasizes capacity planning, performance standards, and collaboration with vendors to deliver reliable data center infrastructure.

You will contribute to operational readiness, incident resolution, and ongoing upgrades, working within a Hybrid Flex environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree required; relevant experience may substitute.
• 5+ years in related field; in lieu of degree, 7+ years experience acceptable.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments and enterprise Linux systems is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan and develop complex engineering designs for network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware and database solutions.
• Own and maintain technology currency and capacity planning to support established SLAs.
• Define hardware and software performance standards and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to align infrastructure with enterprise architecture.
• Provide operational readiness through planning, coordination and execution of performance tuning, system support, incidents and upgrades.

Education

Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

5+ years of experience in related field

In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field
