Byte Systems, a VTG subsidiary, seeks a seasoned Information Systems Security Engineer to join our diverse Information Assurance team in Herndon, VA. You will design and implement safety controls, support RMF/A&A, author and maintain SSPs in XACTA, and coordinate with developers to meet security requirements.

The role emphasizes continuous monitoring, vulnerability review, and action plan management to close findings.

Qualifications

• 9+ years supporting A&A and information assurance with RMF; BS degree or 7 years with a master; 4 years in lieu of a degree
• Hands-on validation of control implementations and test procedures
• Knowledge of current security risks and protocols
• Willingness to work outside standard hours if required
• DoD 8140 Baseline Certifications (eg, Security+)
• RMF and Xacta experience
• TS/SCI with Poly
• Onsite work in a secure environment

Responsibilities

• Design and implement safety measures and controls; monitor network activity and address threats
• Support A&A processes and IA documentation across analytic and mission systems
• Lead RMF processes and create BoEs for multiple information systems
• Author and maintain SSPs within XACTA
• Develop SCTMs and STP procedures within XACTA
• Analyze existing security systems and recommend improvements
• Prepare reports and action plans for breaches
• Monitor network and provide early warnings of issues
• Communicate system status and downtime to users
• Guide developers on security requirements and policies
• Create and manage POA&Ms with project managers
• Support continuous monitoring and auditing of operational systems
• Perform log review/analysis (SIEM)
• Conduct vulnerability analysis (ACAS, Prisma, SonarQube, JFrog X-Ray, GitLab Code Quality)
• Work with DISA STIGs and STIG Viewer
