Job summary

College of DuPage seeks a Senior Information Security Engineer to design and implement cybersecurity measures protecting college systems, networks, and data. You will collaborate across IT, academic, and administrative staff to uphold high security standards while supporting the educational mission.

You will lead security operations, manage incidents, and drive encryption, IAM, and DLP initiatives, ensuring alignment with FERPA, HIPAA, and NIST/ISO guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field required.
• 3–5 years of information security experience; senior/lead role preferred.
• Certifications such as CISSP or CISM strongly preferred; familiarity with cloud security and hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with FERPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and higher education regulatory requirements.
• Experience with SOCs and incident response teams; data loss prevention experience.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor network traffic and systems to detect security incidents and breaches; perform root-cause analysis and mitigation.
• Maintain and test incident response plans for rapid recovery from breaches or failures.
• Collaborate with MSP to implement security operation solutions and manage escalations.
• Lead operation of security tools and platforms including SIEM and endpoint protection.
• Design, implement, and maintain security architectures (encryption, IAM, secure networks).
• Maintain protection of PII, financial data, and IP; manage DLP solutions.
• Lead vulnerability scans and penetration testing; implement risk-mitigation tasks.
• Develop and update security policies, standards, and guidelines; ensure FERPA/HIPAA/NIST/ISO 27001 alignment.
• Support security awareness programs for students, faculty, staff.
