Job summary

Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL, seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer to protect the college's data, systems and users. You will operate security tools, perform risk assessments, monitor SIEM/EDR, and support compliance with GLBA, PCI-DSS and FERPA.

Reporting to Infrastructure & Network Services, you will implement controls, respond to incidents, and coordinate remediation, with on-call duties and potential hybrid work after the introductory period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum two years of cybersecurity experience.
• Experience with Windows operating systems and network security policies.
• Familiarity with SSL, HTTPS, IPSec and intrusion detection systems.
• Ability to collaborate on projects and apply security best practices for educational institutions.
• Must note two years full-time related experience on resume.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls to protect networks, systems, and data.
• Monitor security tools (SIEM, EDR, firewall logs) for threats and suspicious activity.
• Perform risk and vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation.
• Support compliance efforts (FERPA, GLBA, PCI-DSS, CIS Controls).
• Serve as backup to Information Security Specialist and participate in Incident Response.
