Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking an Infection Preventionist II for our Infection Control department. This hybrid role in Hyde Park includes travel to clinics as needed, with responsibilities spanning surveillance, data analysis, policy development, and education for hospital personnel.

Ideal candidates hold an Illinois RN license or MLS, plus CDCI certification and a public health background. Strong communication, project management, and epidemiology knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of basic epidemiologic methods and statistics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine surveillance plans to detect hospital infections/outbreaks.
• Collect and analyze clinical/laboratory data to classify infections.
• Collaborate with peers to investigate hospital-acquired infections.
• Prepare reports with charts/tables/graphs on outbreaks.
• Presents educational programs on infection control to staff.
• Provide timely written/verbal reports and implement recommendations.
• Oversee small to medium projects with supervisor support.
• Within 12 months, gain knowledge of patient care, asepsis, and epidemiology.
