Job summary

City of San Diego is seeking a Wastewater Pretreatment Inspector III to perform inspections of the most complex facilities and categorical industries within the Industrial Wastewater Control Program. The role includes coordinating investigations, assisting with enforcement actions, and providing technical guidance to inspectors.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or closely related field with chemistry coursework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree must include 18 units of chemistry with lecture and laboratory components.
• Additional qualifying professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Inspect complex facilities and categorical industries.
• Coordinate and manage special investigations.
• Assist with enforcement procedures and actions.
• Provide technical guidance and training to inspectors.
• Interpret and determine impact of regulations; administer BMP programs.
• Develop data and perform data system management tasks; prepare reports and presentations.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field including 18 semester/27 quarter college-level units of chemistry
