Job summary

WSSC Water is seeking an Industrial Investigator to conduct complex field inspections, investigations, and monitoring related to the Pretreatment program. The role involves enforcing regulations, collecting samples, reviewing permits, and coordinating with agencies and industry reps.

Responsibilities include compiling data, preparing technical records, and supporting court actions. Requires a Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework or equivalent experience, plus valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree including 2+ years of chemistry, biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, law enforcement, construction management/design or related field.
• High School diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of industrial investigator (pretreatment) / environmental regulatory compliance / plumbing inspection experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare compliance reports under local, state and federal regulations.
• Perform field inspections and investigations of industrial waste discharges.
• Issue enforcement actions including notices of violation and civil citations.
• Collect samples from industries, treatment plants, and sewer trunk lines.
• Consult with laboratories and data management personnel on sampling and testing.
• Maintain and update database files; review permit applications and issue permits to industrial users.
• Attend court hearings in support of enforcement actions.
• Review and interpret wastewater regulations and industry self-monitoring data.
