Job summary

Shimizu North America is seeking a Senior Estimator with 10 years of industrial construction experience for a site-based project in Lordstown, OH. You will coordinate estimates from initial bid through subcontracts and work with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors.

After project completion, the role may transition to a home-office position in Atlanta, GA, focusing on negotiated industrial projects across core markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or another technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of industrial construction or manufacturing experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in an estimation role.
• Proven track record of design bid, Design/Bid/build estimating success.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the project from the first estimate through subcontracts.
• Request quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to bid or budget.
• Use estimating systems to produce accurate budgets or bids.
• Develop conceptual estimates from limited drawings and specs.
• Provide innovative cost solutions and manage lead times and materials.
• Predict costs accurately across all scopes of work.
• Ensure subcontractors commit to the project schedule.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Identify and resolve complex issues with innovative approaches.
• Clarify scope with Architects, Engineers and Subcontractors.
• Coordinate estimates with electrical, mechanical and plumbing disciplines.
• Coordinate with field operations on requirements and scheduling.
• Prepare detailed estimates as design evolves and document variances.
• Assemble complete, presentation-worthy cost packages.
• Understand unit costs and factors affecting construction cost.
• Work with other departments to submit bids per bidding procedures.
