Job summary

Penguin Random House is seeking an analytical operations professional to join our Westminster Operations Center in Maryland. You will collaborate across functions to strengthen our distribution network, support large-scale automation and material handling initiatives, and drive data-driven improvements across our facilities.

You will evaluate processes, develop new approaches, and build analyses in Excel while communicating findings clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in industrial engineering, supply chain operations, or a related technical field.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in an industrial engineering, supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, or similarly complex operational environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with complex formulas.
• Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions and levels of the organization.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects.
• Experience working with external vendors.
• Experience extracting, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets to communicate findings clearly.
• Experience implementing and supporting warehouse management systems, automation systems, or material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement and help develop new approaches.
• Build analyses in Excel and communicate findings to stakeholders across functions.
• Support warehouse management system implementations, automation, and material handling projects.
• Participate in time studies, flow chart development, and testing of system enhancements.
• Collaborate across sites to support network-wide operational improvement initiatives.
