Job summary

Penguin Random House LLC Westminster, MD, seeks a driven Industrial Engineer to join the Operations Services team. The role blends data analysis, project management, and process improvement across distribution operations and automation initiatives.

You will evaluate processes, build Excel-based analyses, collaborate across functions, and contribute to designing facilities and implementing warehouse systems, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in industrial engineering, supply chain operations, or a related technical field.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in an industrial engineering, supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, or similarly complex operational environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with complex formulas.
• Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions and levels of the organization.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects.
• Experience working with external vendors.
• Experience extracting, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets to communicate findings clearly.
• Experience implementing and supporting warehouse management systems, automation systems, or material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop new approaches that support operational growth and efficiency.
• Build analyses in Excel and communicate findings clearly to a range of audiences.
• Collaborate with team members across functions and levels to drive distribution operations initiatives.
• Support warehouse management system implementations, automation projects, and material handling improvements.
