Job summary

Key Tech is seeking a Lead Industrial Designer to grow the ID group, drive user-centered design across medical devices, and lead design-centric projects with a focus on usability engineering. You will collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to shape products from concept to FDA-submission-ready designs.

The ideal candidate brings broad ID experience, a strong portfolio, and the ability to manage client relations and proposals while mentoring junior designers.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in product design and development.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and client relations.
• An excellent portfolio displaying core ID skills and product development process.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Knowledge of medical device product development and usability engineering.

Responsibilities

• Create elegant and useful products for medical, life sciences, and technical markets.
• Create innovative and user-centered concepts through sketching, visualization, and rapid ideation.
• Conduct user research and usability studies.
• Translate research insights into compelling design solutions.
• Develop ergonomic product forms, architectures, and interaction concepts.
• Create CAD models, renderings, and prototypes to communicate concepts.
• Conduct usability engineering activities including workflow analysis and design validation.
• Present design concepts and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
• Contribute to visual design activities including branding, UI, and storytelling.
• Work on multidisciplinary teams to solve technical and usability problems.
• Organize and manage design and user research work, including usability testing.
• Participate in developing internal design processes.
• Provide mentorship for staff involved in design activities.
• Participate in prospective client meetings and proposals.
