Job summary

Key Tech is seeking a Lead Industrial Designer to grow our team of designers and advance medical device products from concept to FDA-design controlled development. The role blends product development, usability engineering, and user experience, with hands-on design and interaction concepts across medical and high-tech markets.

You will mentor designers, manage client relationships, participate in proposals, and collaborate with engineers to deliver ergonomic, visually compelling devices.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in product design and development.
• Experience managing projects and client relations.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating core ID skills.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Knowledge of medical device development and FDA context.
• Solid understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent user advocates with clear design rationale.
• Strong communication and collaboration with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Create elegant, user-centric medical devices for life sciences and tech markets.
• Lead design concepts through sketching, visualization, and rapid ideation.
• Conduct user research: interviews, observations, usability studies.
• Translate research into design solutions.
• Develop ergonomic product forms, architectures, and interactions.
• Create CAD models, renderings, and prototypes.
• Conduct usability engineering, including workflow analysis and design validation.
• Present concepts, findings, and recommendations to clients and teams.
• Mentor staff and participate in client meetings and proposals.
• Help grow the ID group and design processes at Key Tech.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines.
