Job summary

Key Tech, a product development company focused on high tech medical devices, seeks a Lead Industrial Designer to grow the design group and drive user-centered product development from concept to design controls. Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in product design and development.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and client relations.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating core ID skills and product development experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Knowledge of medical device development and how ID contributes to it.
• Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Create elegant and useful medical devices for the medical, life sciences, and technical markets.
• Generate innovative, user-centered concepts through sketching, visualization, and rapid ideation.
• Conduct user research including interviews and usability studies, and translate insights into design solutions.
• Develop ergonomic product forms, architectures, and interaction concepts.
• Create CAD models, renderings, and prototypes to communicate ideas.
• Lead usability engineering activities like workflow analysis and design validation.
• Present concepts and findings to clients and internal teams.
• Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems.
• Mentor team members and guide design activities within the group.
