Job summary
Locked In Talent is seeking a Senior Controls Technician for our client in Birmingham, Alabama. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with industrial automation, PLC programming, electrical controls, and commissioning.
You will work on automated equipment from programming through startup and ongoing support. The role requires independent field work, problem-solving across PLC/HMI systems, and ownership of projects through to completion.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in industrial controls or automation.
- Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with PLC platforms (AB/Siemens) and HMI systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical controls and control panels.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Experience with equipment startup and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Program, troubleshoot, modify, and support PLC-based control systems.
- Develop and modify PLC logic on AB, Siemens, or similar platforms.
- Configure and troubleshoot HMI and operator interfaces.
- Perform startup, testing, and commissioning of automated equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, controls, instrumentation, and networks.
- Read schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs and implement solutions.
- Document changes and provide mentorship to junior technicians.
