Job summary
Automation Solutions in Birmingham, AL seeks an Industrial Automation Controls Engineer to own the full lifecycle from concept to startup and service. You will design, program, test, and install electro-mechanical systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo motion, robots, and vision systems.
You will travel ~25% to customer sites and perform hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation while ensuring safety and code conformance.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics preferred.
- 2–4 years in controls programming or comparable industrial controls roles.
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo/motion, industrial robots, machine vision, and industrial networks.
Responsibilities
- Architect, code, and troubleshoot automated electromechanical systems.
- Create and refine PLC and HMI applications (including ladder logic) and related control software.
- Commission PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motion (servo), robots, and machine vision; diagnose issues rapidly.
- Interpret and update electrical drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation.
- Execute hands-on integration, modifications, repairs, and system bring-up.
