Job summary

Belcan is seeking a senior engineer to own the lifecycle of deployed Sustaining Automation systems, diagnosing complex controls issues and driving software improvements across PLC, HMI, and MES software.

You will act as the escalation point, mentor technicians on the factory floor, and collaborate with vendors on equipment retrofits while ensuring safety and compliance across all plant automation assets.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics or equivalent.
6+ years working with industrial control systems in manufacturing.
Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting across multiple platforms.
Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio 5000.
Familiarity with MES/SCADA data integration and safety systems.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary engineering escalation point for Sustaining Automation Technicians.
Independently design and execute PLC, HMI, and SCADA software changes.
Troubleshoot MES data transactions within PLC programs and ensure data handshakes.
Provide mentorship and training to automation technicians on the floor.
Participate in on-call rotations for off-hour escalations.
Collaborate with vendors on retrofits, upgrades and debt reduction.
Ensure safety and environmental policies are followed for all equipment.
