Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Manager, Indirect Tax to lead sales and use tax compliance and tax planning for a global operation based in Hawthorne, CA. The role focuses on data coordination, audit defense, and continuous improvement of tax processes across multiple jurisdictions.

The candidate will manage tax returns, support audits, and provide strategic guidance on indirect tax matters in a high-growth environment. Onsite in Hawthorne; strong Excel and tax research tools required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax or finance.
• 10+ years of indirect tax experience in public accounting or at a multinational company.
• Experience with MS Excel and tax research tools (RIA Checkpoint).

Responsibilities

• Gather and manipulate data and coordinate with external service providers to prepare sales and use tax and VAT returns across all U.S. states and Canada.
• Manage monthly and year-end general ledger account reconciliation.
• Stay informed with new products and business growth initiatives to provide guidance and ensure compliance and audit defense.
• Resolve tax notices and similar matters.
• Perform tax technical research related to sales and use tax and other indirect tax matters.
• Assist with invoice sales tax reviews and use tax accrual reviews.
• Assist in validating data and proper calculation and collection of sales tax in all states in Vertex and Avalara.
