Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an experienced Manager, Indirect Tax to lead US and Canada indirect tax strategy, monthly compliance, audits and planning in Hawthorne, CA.

You will coordinate data with external providers, perform tax research, manage exemption certificates, and drive process improvements, automation and tax engine validation. On-site role requiring 7+ years in indirect tax at a multinational or public firm, with a Bachelor's in a related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax, real estate, finance or other business disciplines.
• 7+ years of work experience as an indirect tax professional in public accounting or at a large multinational company.
• Experience with MS Excel and tax research tools (RIA Checkpoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist with indirect tax audits, refund claims and coordinate responses to various tax authorities.
• Resolve tax notices and similar matters.

• Assist in validating tax engine configurations and calculation results.
• Work with suppliers and internal purchasing teams on sales & use tax matters, including claiming various exemptions or incentives, and looking for savings opportunities.
• Document indirect tax issues, positions and resolutions.
• Prepare and maintain tax calendar for indirect tax licenses, filings, as well as assist in various administrative matters.
• Assist with general ledger account reconciliation.
• Validate and manage sales tax exemption certificates.
• Implement process improvements and automation.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with sales and use tax compliance and consulting.
• Experience working across multiple states.
• Experience working with indirect tax software (Vertex/AvaTax).
• Familiarity with indirect taxes and their application across multiple industries.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered.
• Willing to work extended hours as necessary.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay Range: $140,000.00 - $190,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, education and experience. Base salary is one part of the total rewards package and may include long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and stock-related opportunities.
