Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA, seeks a Tax Manager to direct domestic and international tax operations, including planning, compliance, audits, and ASC 740 provisions.

You will coordinate with external advisors, prepare tax provisions, manage audits, respond to notices, and collaborate with other groups to implement tax strategies.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 6+ years’ tax experience in public accounting; CPA preferred. Onsite full-time, located in Hawthorne, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, or business.
• 6+ years of combined tax experience in public accounting with tax accounting in accordance with ASC 740.

Responsibilities

• Provide necessary tax-related information to external tax advisors for federal and multi-state tax returns and preparation of quarterly estimates.
• Review and filing of federal and multi-state tax returns with external tax advisors.
• Prepare the annual tax provision and oversee major tax accounts in accordance with ASC 740 and FIN 48.
• Assist in managing all tax-related audits and relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Coordinate responses to notices and processing of refund checks from taxing authorities.
• Manage multi-state income taxes, sales and use tax, property tax, business licenses and permits, and other informational filings.
• Serve as main contact for outside auditors and tax service providers on tax matters and strategic projects.
• Communicate tax impacts of business strategies to other groups.
• Identify and implement strategic initiatives to enhance process efficiencies, e.g., tax fixed assets depreciation system.
• Assist in developing and implementing tax strategies and initiatives.
