Job summary

Carroll County Government is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist older adults with intellectual disabilities at Westminster Senior and Community Center. You will provide person-centered support, help with daily activities, and document progress to support inclusion in the local community.

The role emphasizes safety, compassion, and teamwork, with opportunities for training, benefits, and flexible scheduling where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
• Up to one year of related experience preferred
• Substitute education/experience may be considered for minimum requirements

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Inclusion Program participants in finding activities in an integrated setting.
• Provide support to older adults in accordance with support plans.
• Assist with personal hygiene, lifting, and transfers as needed.
• Plan and deliver activities, document progress and attendance.
• Transport participants using County vehicles as needed.
• Position participants on a Hoyer lift when required.
• Communicate with participants respectfully and effectively.
• Attend planning meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow safety rules.
• Demonstrate collaboration and willingness to learn in a supportive setting.
