Job summary

The Immigrant Legal Resource Center is hiring a Senior Staff Attorney based in San Francisco, CA. This exempt, bargaining unit position will be based in our SF office with a hybrid schedule requiring two in-office days per week.

The Attorney will strengthen California's legal capacity through trainings, technical assistance, and policy work, focusing on removal defense, know-your-rights, or immigration options for children and youth, with up to three openings in the SF office.

Qualifications

• The candidate has at least 7 years of experience in general immigration law, including the immigration court and appeals.
• Broad knowledge of immigration law, including inadmissibility and relief options.
• Strong foundation in removal defense, federal court litigation, or enforcement responses.
• Excellent writing, editing, and legal analysis.
• Strong training and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead meetings and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to teamwork and ability to manage multiple projects.
• A California Bar membership in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a legal expert to provide information and guidance on complex immigration scenarios through trainings and materials.
• Respond to requests for technical legal assistance from attorneys and staff serving low-income immigrants.
• Write manuals, practice advisories, and outreach materials for attorneys and community members.
• Analyze emergent legal and policy changes and disseminate rapid alerts to partners.
• Prepare and deliver webinars and in-person seminars on immigration topics.
• Coordinate with networks and present to groups on law, policy, and immigrant rights.
• Track project deliverables and ensure training materials meet partner needs.
• Write reports to foundations and represent ILRC with funders.
