Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to design and scale ARM64 compute platforms and APIs for the Akamai Connected Cloud. You will collaborate with Linux, QEMU, and hardware teams to deliver high-density compute, APIs, and virtualization features.

The role requires 8 years of experience, strong SDLC expertise, and proficiency in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust. We offer a flexible work model supporting home, office, or hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant experience and full SDLC experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.
• Experience with web applications, microservices, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Strong debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting across distributed Linux systems and databases.

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled systems languages.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software Bugs.
• Participating in technical design reviews and mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
