Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior II Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead test strategy for its Linux kernel and AI/Compute platforms. You will design scalable automation and validate performance, reliability, and security in 24/7 environments.

You’ll mentor teammates, contribute to CI/CD improvements, and collaborate across teams to address highly complex infrastructure challenges, ensuring robust release quality for the Akamai platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong C and Linux kernel infrastructure expertise; scripting in Python/Shell/Perl.
• Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals and drivers, memory management, and TCP/IP stack.
• Experience with Linux kernel debugging, performance benchmarking, and CI frameworks.
• Leadership, mentorship, and collaboration to solve complex infrastructure challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale automated test frameworks for the Linux kernel (AI/Compute platforms).
• Develop test suites for new custom enhancements and porting modifications to newer kernel versions.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex low‑level system issues across testing environments.
• Architect and enhance build and test automation for robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
